Description:

This is a course of continuing education designed to increase the clinical massage therapist's skill and competency in relieving muscular pains. This method will enable a therapist to determine and quickly address the muscles causing skeletal pain of the back, neck, shoulders, arms and chest. Functional assessment tests for the neck and shoulders to confirm client is within the boundaries of the massage therapist practice are covered.
    Utilizing this technique will get your clients out of pain quicker and last longer. They will be recommending you to their friends and others they hear talking about pain. This method is considerably less work on you without being harmful to your fingers and thumbs.

Preparation:

A general review of your anatomy book for the neck and shoulder muscles.

Objectives:

After taking this course the therapist will be able to:

  1. Describe the pain gate theory and memory
  2. Palpate the muscle which is ischemic and know how to prepare the tissue for release
  3. Learn what to look for in your visual inspections and intake
  4. Describe to the client toxin release and the importance of drinking water
  5. Determine which muscles are responsible for various neck and shoulder pains
  6. Relieve hypertonic muscles
  7. Instruct the client on the importance of proper self-care through exercise and stretching

    Hands-on portion:

  1. Review of anatomy of muscle
  2. Demo of techniques with Q&A
  3. Hands on for each pair
  4. LEARN TO TREAT THESE MUSCLES ON YOUR BODY!!!

What to bring:

          Massage table, special needs  bolstering and table linens
          Wear loose comfortable clothing
           Snacks (we will not break for lunch)

CERTIFICATES WILL BE GIVEN OUT AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE CLASS THAT DAY.
